Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

This applies to the modern versions only. They are here under a NC licence, though there should certainly be completely free versions available. The original Middle English is clearly in the public domain. Eclecticology 13:41, 30 June 2012 (EDT)

There is this; it was published in 1900 and the translator died in 1928 so it is certainly out of copyright.--Poetlister 08:28, 8 July 2012 (EDT)
A. S. Kline, the translator of the Wikilivres text, is obviously alive so the text is not in the PD but only in the NC licence, in contrary to this. -jkb- 17:46, 5 September 2012 (EDT)
I had hoped someone would contribute a PD version of the modern text, but it didn’t happen. The Kline version has been deleted. Eclecticology 19:14, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

Works of Florent Latrive

Both of these use an unacceptable NC licence. Eclecticology 16:50, 5 September 2012 (EDT)

Le Mannequin

This substantial but incomplete assortment of pages is already at where it is less incomplete. Eclecticology 21:06, 7 October 2012 (EDT)

Delete to avoid duplication.--Poetlister 17:38, 17 November 2012 (EST)

Constitution of Brazil

The translator is not identified, and this is under an NC-ND licence. Eclecticology 14:21, 23 October 2012 (EDT)

  • Deleted.--Jusjih 07:18, 25 December 2012 (EST)

Alcools (transl. A. S. Kline)

Uses an NC licence. If someone finds a PD version or one with an acceptable licence, I would prefer a replacement. Eclecticology 00:35, 5 November 2012 (EST)

  • These pages have been blanked. Eclecticology 13:45, 8 January 2013 (EST)

The Heroides

This is another NC Kline translation. Because the original work is ancient, I’m sure that acceptable translations of the text are available. To maintain the structure I propose that the pages be blanked. Eclecticology 15:29, 5 November 2012 (EST)

Wittgenstein translations into French

These partial translations have deprecated NC licences.

Eclecticology 03:00, 1 December 2012 (EST)

As it is translated by a local user, the license can be changed. Yann 01:08, 14 January 2013 (EST)
That user-translator hasn’t been seen in three years. I would not consider to change that licence for him. Eclecticology 05:06, 14 January 2013 (EST)
Deleted, except for landing page of Remarques Eclecticology 19:52, 5 March 2013 (EST)

The Odes

The version we have has a non-commercial licence. Truly free ones are available, so I’m really inclined to blank the pages. Eclecticology 18:07, 5 December 2012 (EST)

We can get rid of them. Here is a PD version; the translator died in 1869.[1]--Poetlister 07:14, 29 December 2012 (EST)
Blanked, leaving leaving the basic structure in case anyone feels inclined to add a PD version. Eclecticology 05:17, 28 January 2013 (EST)

File:Sergei Rachmaninoff - Concerto 1 in F minor, 2nd movement.ogg

Accidentally uploaded this work which I thought was deleted on Commons, but actually it was reuploaded under another name and the old name was deleted. It's pre-1923 and first published in Russia so they can host it there. Dcoetzee 12:47, 13 January 2013 (EST)

Created this while building the category structure, but found out there's already a Category:Top, so please delete it. Dcoetzee 11:56, 14 January 2013 (EST)

File:Édouard Vuillard - Les Couturières.jpg

Accidentally uploaded this one without noticing that since it was nominated for deletion on Commons someone found a pre-1923 date for it, so that makes it PD in the US and its source country. Restored on Commons, no longer needs to be here. Dcoetzee 10:57, 15 January 2013 (EST)

Translations by Mikhail Urnov

These are under a non-commercial licence, and no longer acceptable. Eclecticology 14:38, 26 January 2013 (EST)

The Bestiary: or Orpheus’s Procession

This is under a non-commercial licence, and no longer acceptable. The original French, and the illustrations are clearly in the public domain. I have not found PD versions of the English verses, but since they are mostly quatrains it is entirely conceivable that PD versions of these may have been appeared in magazines shortly after the French versions appeared. Art indien

Is it too encyclopedic to be here?--Jusjih 22:36, 4 January 2015 (PST)

Being too encyclopedic (whatever that means) should not in itself be a reason for deletion. A more certain reason for deleting this material is that it is his own original work. He hasn't done anything here since 2011, and I think that his Art indien has also been on other sites, including Wikibooks. Eclecticology 01:05, 6 January 2015 (PST)
And I can't see a copyright notice, though of course if it's been on Wikibooks it must be under an acceptable licence.--Poetlister 09:37, 1 March 2015 (PST)

No derivative licences are no longer acceptable. This instance is particularly anomalous. A translation is a deriative work, and as such is a copyright infringement. Eclecticology 10:43, 23 April 2015 (PDT)

Deleted This is pretty straight-forward. As that page says, "Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies of this license document, but changing it is not allowed." I'm sure the FSF would like Chinese readers to be able to understand their perspective but it would have to be through an official translation or simple quotation and explanation. —Justin (koavf)TCM☯ 19:16, 23 April 2015 (PDT)

NC licence no longer acceptable. This is also stated to be incomplete, and hasn't been worked on since 2009. Eclecticology 17:30, 29 April 2015 (PDT)

Deleted. Anyway, it seemed rather incoherent so I doubt that it is worth having.--Poetlister 03:44, 17 May 2015 (PDT)
